Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information A Good Seat collects, how it is used, and what choices you have. It applies to agoodseat.com, guides.agoodseat.com, store.agoodseat.com, and any other domains operated by Rebecca Brown, doing business as A Good Seat ("we," "our," or "us").
Information We Collect
Information you provide directly. When you subscribe to our Substack newsletter or send us email, we receive your email address and any message content you include. When you purchase a guide through Gumroad, Gumroad collects your name, email, billing address, and payment details to process the transaction; A Good Seat receives your name and email from Gumroad along with a record of your purchase. We do not see your full payment details.
Information collected automatically. Our hosting provider may log basic technical information (IP address, browser type, referring page) for site operation and security. We do not currently use third-party advertising trackers or behavioral retargeting.
How We Use the Information
- To deliver the digital product you purchased.
- To respond to email you send us.
- To send the Substack newsletter to subscribers, and only to subscribers who have opted in.
- To understand general site traffic patterns and improve the publication.
- Where applicable, to comply with legal obligations (tax records, fraud prevention, response to lawful requests).
Third-Party Service Providers
We use the following services to operate A Good Seat. Each has its own privacy practices, governed by its own privacy policy:
- Gumroad — payment processing and digital product delivery (store.agoodseat.com)
- Substack — newsletter publication and subscriber management (agoodseat.com)
- Netlify — static site hosting (guides.agoodseat.com)
- Google Workspace — email accounts on the agoodseat.com domain
- Cloudflare — DNS and basic site performance
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Your Rights
California residents (CCPA / CPRA). If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to request its deletion, to opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information (we do not sell or share), and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
European Economic Area / United Kingdom residents (GDPR / UK-GDPR). If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict the processing of, port, or object to the processing of your personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@agoodseat.com. We will respond within the time periods required by applicable law.
Data Retention
We retain newsletter subscriber information until you unsubscribe (which you can do at any time through the link at the bottom of any newsletter). We retain purchase records for the period required by United States tax law, typically seven years.
Children
Our products and newsletter are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it.
International Transfers
A Good Seat is based in the United States. Our service providers may store and process data in the United States and other jurisdictions. By using our sites or purchasing our products, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We will note material changes prominently.
