Terms of Service
Effective May 26, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of agoodseat.com, guides.agoodseat.com, store.agoodseat.com, and any related domains operated by Rebecca Brown, doing business as A Good Seat ("A Good Seat," "we," "our," or "us"). By accessing the site or purchasing any product, you agree to these Terms.
About A Good Seat
A Good Seat publishes companion guides for adventurous horseback travel. The publication is owned and operated by Rebecca Brown as a sole proprietor based in California, United States. Companion guides are sold through Gumroad, which handles payment processing on our behalf.
Use of the Site
You may read, download, and refer to the materials on our sites for personal, non-commercial use. You may not republish, redistribute, resell, scrape, mirror, or otherwise commercially exploit any guide content, photography, or design without prior written permission.
Products and Purchases
Companion guides are digital products delivered electronically. Pricing is shown in US dollars on the product page. By completing a purchase, you authorize Gumroad to charge the payment method you provide. The purchase confers a personal, non-transferable license to read and refer to the guide; it does not transfer copyright or any other intellectual property rights in the work.
Intellectual Property
All content on our sites — written essays, photography, maps, design, and the A Good Seat name and marks — is the intellectual property of Rebecca Brown / A Good Seat unless otherwise attributed. Trip operators and other parties referenced in the guides retain their own rights and identities; their inclusion in a guide does not imply endorsement of, or affiliation with, A Good Seat unless explicitly stated.
Refunds
Digital downloads are non-refundable except in cases of technical failure or as required by applicable law. See our Refund Policy for details.
Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
The guides describe destinations, routes, conditions, operators, and horseback travel based on the author's experience and research at the time of publication. Conditions change. Riders are responsible for verifying all logistical, medical, safety, weather, regulatory, and legal information independently with their tour operator and other authoritative sources. Horseback travel involves inherent risks; nothing in our guides constitutes safety advice, medical advice, or a guarantee of any outcome.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, A Good Seat is not responsible for losses, injuries, expenses, or other harms resulting from reliance on guide content. A Good Seat's total liability under these Terms is limited to the purchase price you paid for the guide in question.
Third-Party Services
Our purchase flow, hosting, and newsletter rely on third-party services (currently Gumroad, Netlify, Substack, Google Workspace, and Cloudflare). Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of those services, though we choose them with care.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the site will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
